Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly. Feel your breath. Anxiety lives in the future. Bring yourself back to now. Name five things you can see. Four things you can touch. Three things you can hear. Two things you can smell. One thing you can taste. Feel yourself return to your body. Breathe out slowly, longer than you breathe in. This tells your nervous system: we are safe. Repeat: I am safe in this moment. My body knows how to calm itself. This will pass. Continue breathing long, slow exhales.
