You are awake. That is okay. Fighting sleep only pushes it further away. Instead, rest. Rest is almost as good as sleep. Breathe in for four counts. Hold for four. Breathe out for eight. Repeat. Feel your body soften with each long exhale. Do not check the time. Do not calculate hours. Just this breath. Now this one. Your only job is to lie still and breathe.
