Breathe in slowly through the nose, counting one. Breathe out slowly, counting two. In, three. Out, four. Continue up to ten, then start again. If you lose count, no problem — start at one. Notice where you feel the breath most clearly. Nostrils. Chest. Belly. Rest your attention there like a soft hand. When thoughts appear, do not fight them. Let them pass like clouds. Return to the breath. The breath is always with you. It is your teacher. It is your home. Breathe. Count. Return. Breathe.
